Evi Pangestu Indonesian, b. 1992

Evi Pangestu is an Indonesian painter who investigates rebellion and control within the parameter of convention. Her works pushes boundaries deriving from the grids through experimentations with structures and materials. The equitable quality of the square is Evi’s fundamental measure of being in control. Evi started her formal training in painting at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta, then moved to the UK to finish her undergraduate degree in Birmingham School of Art. In 2019, she received an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art, London. Evi is currently based in London.
