Catherine Repko’s practice takes the relationship between the artist and her three sisters as a point of departure. Intimate and poignant, Repko’s work examines familial bonds, identity and humanity, examining both the literal and figurative space between sisters – through time and distance, childhood to adulthood. Using an emphasis on reduced forms and negative space, Repko explores the intersection between documentary and painting, memory and obfuscation, to create nostalgic and painterly tableaux.
