Claudia DI Francesco Italian, b. 1992
Overview
Claudia Di Francesco (b. 1992, Rome, Italy) engages in a meticulous, alchemical process of artistic inquiry, where experimentation becomes a ritual that summons memories and impressions from the liminal space between personal unconscious and collective experience. In her ethereal paintings, fields of auroral color evoke remembrances and premonitions—visions of an otherworldly realm that is intimate yet never sentimental. Her figures, whether real or imagined, suggest a deep, unbreakable bond with nature, the body, and the cyclical rhythms of life and death. They appear as angels, spirits, or penitent souls in search of solace within the eternal narrative of the hero’s journey and inescapable fate.
In 2022, Di Francesco took part in the 7th edition of Fragellae – La Piccola Scultura, in collaboration with the Museum of Archaeology, and exhibited at Capriola Art Week at the Castromediano Museum in Lecce. She was a finalist for Yicca 2022, exhibiting at New Art Space Gallery in Venice.
In 2023, she participated in A Journey Between East and West at Villa Strozzi and the Bellini Museums in Florence, and in The Childhood of the Wizard at the Hermann Hesse Museum in Switzerland. That year, she was also a finalist for the Luigi Candiani Prize at SAC – Space for Contemporary Art in Milan, and contributed as both visual artist and coordinator to the residency project Connection, presented at Galleria Cartavetra in Florence.
Her recent group exhibitions include Embryonic Journey, Richard Saltoun, Rome (2025); La parete che resta, Galleria Cartavetra, Florence (2025); Arte e Architettura in Simbiosi (2024) at Wuhan Wanda Space in China; The Garden’s Heart at Palazzo Olivetti Rason in Florence; and Oscillations 2024, a multi-site project across Palazzo Ruschi Pavesi, Palazzo Sforza, and Palazzo Buttini, curated by NoGallery. She also participated in Preziose Miniature at the Municipal Historical Archive of Palermo and was selected as a finalist for the Edipiderma Prize, exhibited at FORO STUDIO in Milan.
Claudia Di Francesco currently lives and works in Florence.
