Featuring over 200 works, Drawing the Unspeakable is an in-depth exploration of human experience through art. The exhibition brings together a diverse array of pieces that challenge the boundaries of speech, translating the unspeakable into the visual realm. Through these drawings, artists navigate themes of disaster, war, displacement and destruction, mental and physical illness, loss, grief, birth and family, dreams, memories, and imagination.
Alma Pearl is pleased to showcase new works by Adrián Gouet (b. 1982, Chile). This is the fourth project in an ongoing series of occasional presentations by international artists of different generations on the gallery website.
The titles are at once descriptive of each painting in their make-up of colour, shading and light as well as the chemical composition of each dominant pigment used. The result are uncanny painterly images which deliver a sense of stilled movement and moments belonging to both to the past and through these paintings to here and now.
